PBS Western Reserve’s signature digital series LOCAL FOCUS helped highlight more regional activity with the production support of new internships. Publishing more than 20 original stories, LOCAL FOCUS shined a light on the people, places and events that make our region unique. 

 

Visiting seven counties across the PBS Western Reserve viewing area, Senior Producer of Digital Content Fred Barrett says his approach is simple: “Helping people in our local communities tell their own stories.”  

 

Stories covered in fiscal year 2025 include “We Are the Aftermath,” a four-part series chronicling the disruptive fallout of the May 2024 explosion at Youngstown’s Realty Building; a three-part series highlighting local businesses at Stan Hywet’s Ohio Mart; and more.
