PBS Western Reserve Recognizes Cooking Shows During National Culinary Arts Month in July

July is National Culinary Arts Month and so in celebration, PBS Western Reserve (WNEO / WEAO-HD) features its first-rate cooking programs. New series plus existing series that have new episodes are marked with an asterisk (*).

This award-winning series uses a common-sense, practical approach to solve everyday cooking problems and save viewers time and money. Bridget Lancaster and Julia Collin Davison lead a team of dedicated test kitchen cooks to reveal the basics of foolproof home cooking while preparing dozens of exhaustively tested recipes. The series also features the popular segments viewers know and love, including “The Tasting Lab,” “Equipment Corner” and “Gadgets Galore,” Lisa McManus reviews her favorite gadgets and reveals which ones are worth the cost—or not.

This new, uplifting cooking competition celebrates the multiculturalism that makes American food unique and iconic. Hosted by Alejandra Ramos, the series gives talented home cooks from different regions of the country the opportunity to showcase their beloved signature dishes and compete to win the national search for “The Great American Recipe.” Judges Leah Cohen, Tiffany Derry and Graham Elliot bring their professional insights and deep culinary knowledge to encourage and support the contestants along the way.

This half-hour character-driven documentary and cooking series takes viewers inside the life of Chef Vivian Howard, who, with her husband, Ben Knight, left the big city to open a fine dining restaurant in small-town Eastern North Carolina. Each episode follows Howard out of the kitchen and into cornfields, strawberry patches and hog farms as she hunts down the ingredients that inspire her seasonal menus. A celebration of true farm to table food, the series combines the action and drama of a high-pressure business with the joys and stresses of family life.
