The popular British drama series DOC MARTIN is back starring Martin Clunes as cantankerous village practitioner Dr. Martin Ellingham. The story resumes in Portwenn with Martin and his wife, Louisa (Caroline Catz) finally living together again with their son James Henry — however, their problems are far from over. Guest stars include Kevin Doyle as Morwenna’s father and Academy Award nominee Sigourney Weaver as an American tourist in need of medical assistance while traveling in Portwenn. 

Family life proves to be stressful as Martin and Louisa raise their infant son. With Louisa’s encouragement, James Henry grows attached to Buddy the dog, though Martin has less feelings about the four-legged friend. Louisa finds it difficult to manage all her responsibilities as she begins the search for a new nanny and considers making a career change, causing a rift with Martin. 

Meanwhile, Portwenn is abuzz as the residents prepare for a wedding. Bert and Al Large hope to profit from the festivities, but when Martin’s Aunt Ruth (Eileen Atkins) considers selling the family farm, her decision causes trouble for their business endeavors. As some relationships bloom and others falter, can Martin cope with all the changes? Or will he risk the fragile unity he’s forged with his family? 

Seasons 8 and 9 of DOC MARTIN are also available for streaming via PBS Passport. Season 10 — the show’s final season — is expected to be available for broadcast and online streaming later this year.
