Perfect Dramas for Summertime

The pipe. The hat. The magnifying glass. I must be referring to Sherlock Holmes, and he’s back in the MASTERPIECE version starring Benedict Cumberbatch — without the pipe and the hat. Nevertheless, it’s still one of the all-time best interpretations of the Arthur Conan Doyle stories. You can see all four seasons of “Sherlock” on PBS Passport. Watch them all at once or enjoy them at your leisure. Passport is a great benefit when you become a member of PBS Western Reserve, so activate it today and start watching right now.
Another great MASTERPIECE mystery is “Magpie Murders,” which is technically two mysteries in one. A novelist is found dead. That’s bad enough, but the final chapter of his latest whodunnit is missing, too. It’s a fun British romp and you can see back-to-back episodes Sundays at 9 PM on PBS Western Reserve.
In the mood for a historical American drama? Try ATLANTIC CROSSING. It’s inspired by the true story of Norway’s Crown Princess Martha, who moves to Washington to be safe from the Nazis. She forms a close friendship with FDR and uses that relationship to get American support for her country. We’re presenting this as a Sunday afternoon break from the heat. Stay indoors, grab a cool beverage and watch the story play out. It’s this Sunday and next from 1–5 PM on PBS Western Reserve.
I’m so glad to have PBS Passport on my TV and iPad. My wife and I catch up on the dramas and specials we may otherwise have missed. You can have Passport, too. Just become a member of PBS Western Reserve and watch it all — whenever you want.
