Made in California: Beach Boys and Little Feat

We may be 2,000 miles from the Pacific Coast, but I bet many of you (like me) loved every surfing song by the Beach Boys. They were the soundtrack to summer—fun, cars, first romances—and, really, what else was there back then? The man behind the band is Brian Wilson and we get to know him in a new AMERICAN MASTERS special Long Promised Road. Wilson looks back on his prolific, often troubled career and revisits his biggest hits. We also hear from some of his biggest fans, including Bruce Springsteen, Elton John and Gustavo Dudamel. Feel the good vibrations, this Tuesday at 9 PM on PBS Western Reserve.

They may not have as many hits as the Beach Boys, but Little Feat’s fans are just as passionate and loyal. If you’re one of them, be with us tomorrow night when they celebrate the 45th anniversary of the incredible “Waiting for Columbus” album with a concert recorded just three months ago. If you’re not in the fan club, this is the show that’ll make you a lifelong member. Little Feat blew the roof off the famed Ryman Auditorium in a concert that made instant history. See it, dance to it, sing along with it and don’t miss it—tomorrow night at 9 on PBS Western Reserve.

When someone asks me what kind of music I like, I say good music. Rock, jazz, folk—it doesn’t much matter as long as it’s a good song, well-played. That’s what makes GRAMMY SALUTE TO MUSIC LEGENDS special. The 2020 edition has the music of Chicago, Roberta Flack, Iggy Pop, Isaac Hayes, John Prine, Public Enemy and Sister Rosetta Tharpe. It’s a two-hour tribute, beginning at 7 PM this evening on PBS Western Reserve’s Fusion channel (WNEO 45.2 / WEAO 49.2).

Sure we have lots of music, but there’s so much more to PBS Western Reserve. There’s drama, news and documentaries. Most important is you. You make it all possible with your generous support. If you’re not yet a member, click here to join and start enjoying benefits including PBS Passport
