She’s best known for the way she said one word: “how-dee!” And her hat always had a price tag hanging from the brim. Of course, it’s Minnie Pearl. Did you know that her goal was to do Shakespeare on stage? She certainly was no county bumpkin — she was smart, funny and ultimately a star. Learn more about her in FACING THE LAUGHTER: MINNIE PEARL tonight (Friday) at 9 PM and again on Saturday, March 30, at 8 PM.
I’ll bet that you watched the TV series “Little House on the Prairie.” (Even though it wasn’t on PBS, it’s OK!) Or perhaps you read the books. But what do you know about the woman who wrote them — Laura Ingalls Wilder? She published her first book when she was 65, and her daughter played a very big role in writing her books and stories. Find out much more about her rags-to-riches life in AMERICAN MASTERS, “Laura Ingalls Wilder: Prairie to Page,” Saturday at 8 PM.
