A father and daughter work together to curate a career-spanning retrospective for Columbus artist Alice Schille, a largely forgotten yet world-renowned artist at the turn of the 20th century.

Schille traveled the world, winning competitions and awards throughout her career. However, post-World War II art historians failed to include Schille in their research and writing, and like many other talented women of her generation, she was left out of the history books.

Today there is considerable effort to rediscovering women and other marginalized individuals deserving of recognition and inclusion in the historical narrative. Schille tells the story of one of these women. It simultaneously introduces us to up-and-coming curator and art historian Tara Keny, who co-curated with her father, Jim Keny, a retrospective of Schille’s work at the Columbus Museum of Art in 2019. The show was a culmination of over 40 years of research on Schille by the Keny family.
