When a government is of the people, by the people, and for the people, democracy is always in action. America in Action is PBS Western Reserve's civics initiative, empowering Northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania with voter registration tools, polling information, opportunities for civic dialogue, and educational community activities that celebrate the United States' 250th anniversary.

Civic dialogue and community building are fundamental tenets of America’s democracy. PBS Western Reserve invites Northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania into civic action by joining the conversation at one of the upcoming events:

Bridging the Divide: History and Civic Conversation

PBS Western Reserve, in partnership with Braver Angels and the Cuyahoga County Public Library, hosts a preview screening of Ken Burns’ hit docuseries THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION followed by a Braver Angels workshop, “Depolarizing Within.” 

The event will teach participants research-based techniques proven to ease divisiveness across the political spectrum, from exploring one’s own attitudes toward political differences to learning how to have constructive conversations during polarizing moments and more.
