FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

‘Around Akron with Blue Green’ to reach 100-episode milestone on Sept. 10

Local producer marks ten years of capturing Akron small businesses, destinations and stories with his PBS Western Reserve series.

AKRON, Ohio — Aug. 24, 2026 — Local producer and storyteller Blue Green is celebrating ten years of his original local interest series, “Around Akron with Blue Green,” with a landmark 100th episode. The 100th episode, with four new segments, will premiere exclusively on PBS Western Reserve on Thursday, Sept. 10, at 3 p.m.

Over the last decade, Blue has dedicated himself to visiting every corner of the city for the show, from Kenmore to North Hill, Ellet and Merriman Valley. In the process, he’s captured renovations at beloved Akron destinations, interviewed hundreds of small-business owners, and celebrated local achievements from Swensons’ 90th anniversary to the city’s bicentennial.

“I am incredibly honored to have been trusted to tell the stories of hundreds of individuals, businesses, notable figures, and historic locations over the past ten years and 100 episodes,” said Green in a statement. “Thank you to everyone who I've interviewed, all those who have helped, all of my amazing fans, and to PBS Western Reserve for joining me on this incredible journey.”

“‘Around Akron’ represents the community-focused local storytelling we prioritize at PBS Western Reserve,” said Ryan Donchess, chief content officer at PBS Western Reserve. “We’re grateful for our decade-long relationship with Blue and greatly appreciate how he’s been able to bring his love of Akron to screen through fresh stories year after year.”

Julie Costello, the founder and head chef of Ms. Julie’s Kitchen, is a longtime fan of the show after being featured in the series’ first-ever episode in October 2016.

“What an honor to be both the pilot show guest and the first of 400 positive Akron stories told over his first 10 years on air,” said Costello, adding, “Thank you to Blue for showcasing all of us and sharing our love of Akron!”

The full series and additional air dates are available on the PBS Western Reserve website, with on-demand options also available on YouTube and in the free PBS App.
